Hair scrunching qestions?!?!?

Okay so my hair is thick,long, and wavy. I would like to start scrunching my hair but I would like it to look wet and be hard instead of dry and flat. When I scrunch my hair I use Suave moose and L.A. Looks gel and hairspray. but it never really comes out the way I would like it to so could someone please give me some hair scrunchign tips and again I have thick long wavy hair!!!
